Dear Families,
As the calendar year winds down, we are winding up! This is a very busy time for all of us between school, family, sports and social commitments. We hope that you are taking time to rest, enjoy and keep healthy. The students are certainly looking forward to the upcoming Winter Break, and teachers too!
This week we will be culminating our study of Egypt with student presentations. Students should come to school Monday, December 15 with their Egyptian artifact, presentation materials, and ready to present. All students will not be presenting Monday, but all should be prepared. Students’ Final Draft 5 Paragraph Essays are due Friday December 19.
Students will be presenting their research and artifact for the entire sixth grade. Due to time constraints, we will be using Science and Student Skills time for presentations. Your child’s primary homework will be to practice presentations, polish their essay, and daily math and reading assignments.
Also on, Friday December 19 we will also be celebrating the season with a Sixth Grade Potluck. Please see the attached note for sign ups and additional information. We hope you can join us at this event.
Students will draw a name of a student in their homeroom class to be a Secret Winter Friend. Winter Friends are responsible for giving a gift ($5 value) and making a special homemade, appreciation card. This will be a homework assignment this week. Gifts and cards will be exchanged Friday. If you do not wish your child to participate, or have additional concerns please speak with your child’s teacher.
