Writing:
• Write your 3 body paragraphs – due Friday
• Use good Main Idea starters
• Be sure your paragraph details are complete using the Detail Generating Question Handout.
• Revise paragraphs
Student Skills:
• Understand the structure of a word analogy
• Begin to study Latin Root Words: act, aud, cede, cept
• Know the definition of the root word
• Be able to name words that use the root word.
• Understand what subject pronouns, object pronouns and reflexive pronouns are.
• Be able to recognize and use subject pronouns, object pronouns and reflexive pronouns in a sentence.
Social Studies: Quiz Thursday and Friday
Mummification:
• Vocabulary: ba, ka, akh, book of the dead, canopic jars, sarcophagus, Field of Reeds, natron
• Understand why the ancient Egyptians took such special care to preserve
the body of the dead.
• Briefly describe the steps for mummification of a body.
• Understand why the heart was left in the body.
Pyramids:
• Vocabulary: King Zoser, Imhotep , Step Pyramid, King Khufu, Great Pyramid of
Giza, Valley of the Kings, mastaba, sarcophagus
• Name three different types of tombs used in Egypt.
• Describe the basic steps, at least five, followed to build a pyramid.
• Who actually built the pyramids?
• Why did the Pharaohs stop using pyramids for their burial tombs and what
did they do instead?

Start creating your Futuristic project. Please turn in a note card on
Friday with the following on it.
• Sketch of invention
• How does it relate back to ancient Egypt?
• How have you changed it?
• What have you done to make it better?

Science:
• Describe the three forces that theoretically move tectonic plates
• Describe types of stress that occurs in rock and when it occurs:
compression, tension
• Describe the 3 types of folds (be able to also draw a picture of
each)
• Explain the difference between a normal fault, reverse fault, and a
strike-slip fault.
• Know the difference between the foot wall and the hanging wall.
Math:
• Understand vocabulary for integers, negative and positive integers.
• Be able to add and subtract, compare and order integers
